Add the chat to your website
WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, Shopify and any other website.
Your chat button is a single line of code, unique to your business. Find it in your inbox under Add to website, with step-by-step guides for each website builder.
WordPress
Our free plugin is in the WordPress plugin directory. No code needed.
- In WordPress, go to Plugins → Add New Plugin, search for Chatterbell, then click Install Now and Activate on Chatterbell Live Chat.
- Go to Settings → Chatterbell, click Connect to Chatterbell and choose your business.
Or upload it yourself: on Add to website, click Download the WordPress plugin. In WordPress, go to Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin, choose the file, click Install Now and Activate, then connect as above.
Wix
In your Wix dashboard open Settings → Custom Code, click + Add Custom Code, paste the code, choose All pages, place it in Body – end, then publish.
Squarespace
Go to Settings → Advanced → Code Injection, paste the code into Footer and save. (Code Injection isn’t included in every Squarespace plan.)
Shopify
In Shopify admin go to Online Store → Themes → ⋯ → Edit code, open theme.liquid, paste the code just above </body> and save.
Any other website
Paste the code just before the closing </body> tag on every page, or in your site’s “footer code” setting. If someone else looks after your website, send them the code from Add to website.
Check it’s working
Open your website in a new tab: the button appears in the corner. If it doesn’t, clear your website’s cache or wait a minute and try again.
